Chvrches, “Lungs”

I stumbled across Chvrches recently (pronounced “churches,” just spelled oddly for fun). They are a Scottish band formed in 2011. They are noted for their clean electronic pop sound. Lauren Mayberry, the singer, is highly educated compared to most musicians who often don’t even finish high school. Mayberry is an overachiever by comparison, with an undergraduate law degree and a master’s degree in Journalism.

You may recognize the “whoop” patch used in this song as being very similar (if not the same) as the patch Genesis used in “Tonight Tonight Tonight” at the 3:20 mark. Nearly 30 years later, the sound is still very recognizable.
