Lou Reed died
Lou Reed, former leader of the 1960s band The Velvet Underground, died yesterday of liver failure. He was 71. He was a heroin addict who contracted hepatitis many years ago (a disease which attacks the liver) by sharing needles with other addicts. A liver transplant a few months ago failed to save him.
I didn’t particularly like him or his music, but I like his current wife (or should I say, widow), avant-garde/minimalist musician Laurie Anderson. Or I should say, I like her music. Her taste in husbands is questionable. But then, I have an extremely low tolerance for addicts of any type.
Rest in peace, Lou Reed.
