One good, one bad

We went to see the first movie that we’ve seen in a theatre in nearly a year… “The Heat,” with Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy. We laughed so hard, we nearly died. We never go to see movies twice in the theatre, but that one, we might. It was that good.

Then we saw an example of why Hollywood is in decline: “This Is 40,” with Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann, which came out in 2012. I had heard bad things about movies written or directed by Judd Apatow, and now I see why. Miserable people leading miserable lives, doing dumb things that they can’t explain. It has to be the worst movie I’ve seen in a decade. We couldn’t even finish it, it was so bad. And now we know not to watch rentals at our relatives’ house, because they clearly have terrible taste in movies.

Perhaps this weekend we’ll see “Despicable Me 2” or “Red 2.” Then again, we may just wait for the videos.
