Pulling a fast one, part 2

2013-04-02T07:21:25+00:00

So the leaders of Department X informed Department Y that Department Y wasn’t allowed to use our consulting services without paying for us out of Department Y’s budget.

Department Y wasn’t happy about being caught skimming off of Department X’s budget. They came to my subordinate, acting all surprised, and said, “if there was a problem using you, you should have told us.” My subordinate played dumb and said she didn’t know what Department Y was talking about. She takes orders from me, she told them.

Department Y has said nothing to me about it. That’s just fine with me. If they don’t want to pay for our services, we have nothing to talk about. And at least they’re not sucking up our time anymore, asking stupid questions. If they won’t hire the proper talent, they can’t have it for free.

Yes, on loan to a customer, a customer who has almost as many warring fiefdoms as your company does. ;-)
