Billy Squier, “The Big Beat”

I hadn’t thought about this one in years, until I passed a Billy Squier hits compilation on the shelf in the local department store. I’ve always liked his swagger, though his voice is a bit thin.

I read that he never took guitar lessons, just taught himself to play. I was reminded of that scene in “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” where Matthew Broderick honks horribly on a clarinet, then declares proudly, “Never had one lesson!” Billy can play the guitar very well, though.
