ABWH, “Themes”

At the end of the ’80s, most of the original members of the band Yes got together again for a couple of albums. Because Chris Squire, Yes’ bassist, still owned the name “Yes,” the rest of them had to choose another name. After discarding “No” and “The Affirmative,” they settled on their last names: Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman and Howe, which their fans abbreviated to “ABWH.”

Basically, they sound the same as Yes, because they ARE Yes, the definition of the “progressive rock” music genre.

I picked this album up for 99 cents in the used disc section of the thrift store a couple of weeks ago. It’s the best dollar I’ve spent in months.

I used to like Yes a lot back in the 70s. Now my musical tastes seem to have moved in a different direction.
